Welcome

This website is dedicated to the memory of Holt Hill Convent School

Holt Hill Convent School was run by the the Sisters Faithful Companions of Jesus, a French order of nuns who arrived in Liverpool in 1844. In 1849, at the invitation of Dr Brown, Vicar Apostolic for the Northern District, they set up a first class boarding school in Lingdale House in Claughton (later to move to Upton Hall).

Happy with what was being achieved at Lingdale, in 1852 Dr Brown asked the sisters to set up a second class boarding school in Birkenhead, this was to become Holt Hill Convent School.

To help you navigate around the site, there are two menus, the top (horizontal) menu is static and always shows the same options, while the left (vertical) menu gives different options depending on which of the selections from the top menu is chosen. There is also a site index which will take you directly to the selected page.

This site is a "work in progress", additional information and pictures will be added over the coming years.
